Snorri Sigfús Birgisson (b. 1954) is an Icelandic composer and pianist. His instrumental works include music for solo instruments, chamber ensembles, chamber orchestra, and symphony orchestra. He has composed a variety of vocal works, including choral music and works for solo voice with piano and various other instruments. Icelandic folk music is a constant source of inspiration, and he has arranged and reimagined numerous folk songs for solo piano and for a wide variety of combinations of voices and instruments. He is a member of the CAPUT Ensemble and taught music continuously for 40 years, from 1979 to 2019. As a pianist, he has recorded many of his own works.
